edjuster has been recognized by Insurance Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top Contents Claim Solutions In Canada 2026,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “Top Insurance Claim Services in Canada,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the Insurance Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Andrea Kirkland, Vice President of Operations.
Andrea Kirkland, Vice President of OperationsA contents claim may start with a simple list of damaged belongings, but an entry like a brush can fail to help identify whether the item is a toothbrush, hairbrush or toilet brush. Without that detail, accurate identification and valuation become difficult. When that extends throughout a household, the contents portion becomes a source of rework and delay, especially on larger or more complex losses.
edjuster brings structure to contents claims by combining dedicated contents teams with its digital platform, E-xclaim. Together, they provide a consistent process for creating, reviewing and valuing inventories, regardless of who collects the information.
“Contents claims demand our full attention,” says Andrea Kirkland, vice president of operations. “That commitment means mastering the work and bringing the discipline and empathy policyholders need.”
It operates coast-to-coast, with regional teams rolling up through a shared leadership structure, giving insurers consistency irrespective of the individual collecting the inventory. Insurers determine how much responsibility edjuster assumes, adding support without transferring ownership of the broader claim.
Standardizing the Valuation Process
E-xclaim serves as the central hub where inventories are created, reviewed and valued, regardless of whether the information originates from a field or desk team, contractor or policyholder. edjuster’s workflow adds class and type, aging and pricing information before producing like, kind and quality (LKQ) replacement matches and reports.
For higher-frequency claims, it offers a digital service. In case of complex claims, edjuster takes ownership and removes administrative work from adjusters. Its desk service adds further policyholder touchpoints when a list requires additional involvement, including checking for duplicate items and confirming that item details provide enough information for an LKQ match.
Automated pricing uploads receive human review, with sources localized by province and aligned with available retailers.
Integrating Contents Services into Existing Workflows
Insurers have the option to use E-xclaim via its software-asa-service offering. Internal teams may collect information through the policyholder portal and manage claims in E-xclaim, involving edjuster only where needed. A collectibles team, for example, can address a specialized collection without taking control of the broader claim. edjuster's role within an insurer’s workflow depends on claim segmentation, internal adjuster capacity, communication cadence and clear ownership of each step. Information can be submitted through email, web forms, direct integrations or E-xclaim.
Communication follows a weekly, biweekly or end-ofclaim cadence, depending on how the insurer wants information managed. Bringing edjuster into the process earlier can reduce duplicate lists, mixed restorable contents and the unpacking needed to capture data.
A program developed collaboratively with a third-party administrator demonstrates the measurable effect of a structured approach. Different claims handlers had been evaluating contents across regions using varying approaches, creating compliance and evaluation challenges. edjuster built a program around E-xclaim and assumed part of the administrative workload.
The program recorded cycle times under 24 hours on 98 percent of claims and approximately 40 percent ROI. edjuster’s involvement also reduced administrative demands on the client, easing the burden on claims handlers.
That balance of control, efficiency and human judgment underpins edjuster’s recognition as the Top Contents Claim Solutions in Canada 2026.
As contents claims move toward digital self-service, edjuster balances speed and ease with the accuracy, quality and controls the process requires. It gives adjusters more room to focus on settlement and coverage while keeping policyholders supported and informed through a difficult claim.
