MetLife Inc [NYSE: MET] has been recognized by Insurance Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top Group Insurance Benefits Solutions 2026,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “Top Companies in Insurance Benefits Solutions,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the Insurance Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Michel A. Khalaf, CEO.
For employers, group benefits are a practical system for protecting employees, supporting financial security and making coverage easier to understand and use.
MetLife brings together group accident and health, disability, dental, vision, legal services and health savings and spending accounts. Its approach combines coverage with digital tools that support employees in selecting and using benefits, alongside resources for employers managing their benefits programs.
A Broad Benefits Engine
MetLife’s group benefits portfolio addresses several financial and personal risks employees face during working life. Its offerings include group accident and health, group life, group disability and absence, group dental, group vision, group legal services and health savings and spending accounts. The portfolio also extends to executive benefits, pet insurance, identity and fraud protection, alongside Upwise. This range allows employers to address multiple areas of employee protection through one group benefits provider.
The model also reaches smaller employers through dedicated solutions for businesses with two to 99 employees. MetLife offers life, dental and disability coverage alongside voluntary products such as accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity insurance. Its current small-business materials report more than 35,000 small-business customers and more than five million employees covered by its Accident & Health plans. Custom-tailored product suites allow benefit selection to reflect individual business needs while keeping the portfolio within a manageable framework.
The same attention to access appears in dental benefits. MetLife’s dental offering combines PPO and managed-care plans with a broad provider network and digital tools. Together, coverage, provider access and digital assistance make it easier for employees to navigate dental care.
Turning Benefits into Decisions
Employees get more value from their benefits when they understand their options and feel confident using them. MetLife’s Upwise platform helps support that experience with personalized recommendations and timely reminders throughout the year. Through Upwise Use, that support continues after enrollment, giving employees relevant guidance as their needs and benefits change.
The adoption figures provide a measurable view of the strategy. MetLife reported that nearly one million U.S. employees would have the opportunity to experience Upwise during the 2024 enrollment period. Early results also showed solid double-digit growth in benefits enrollment after benefits decision support was deployed during open enrollment.
MetLife has also expanded access to Upwise through its collaboration with Nayya and the Workday Marketplace. In 2025, eligible employers using Workday Human Capital Management or Workday Benefits could access Upwise through the marketplace if they offered qualifying MetLife Accident, Hospital Indemnity or Critical Illness products. Bringing Upwise into the tools employers already use gives employees an easier way to find relevant benefits information, understand their options and make decisions with greater confidence throughout the year.
For more than two decades, MetLife’s Employee Benefit Trends research has tracked how workforce expectations and employer priorities are changing. That ongoing research gives the company a clearer view of what employees need from their benefits and where employers can improve the experience. It also helps shape solutions that make benefits easier to understand and more relevant to the people using them.
Value Measured in Use
MetLife’s approach stands out through the scale and continued growth of its group benefits business. Its broad portfolio helps employers meet different protection needs, while digital tools make it easier for employees to choose, manage and use their benefits. Together, these capabilities create a more connected benefits experience from enrollment through everyday use.
MetLife’s digital capabilities extend beyond enrollment into moments when employees need help using benefits. My Leave Navigator is designed to help U.S. employees understand leave, access claims information and receive updates on leave and return-to-work status. MetLife expects My Leave Navigator to be available to nearly six million employees in 2026.
The platform connects several stages of the leave experience, including leave planning, claims activity and return-to-work information. MetLife has also reported increased digital claim submissions and fewer follow-up claims-related calls associated with the platform while maintaining customer satisfaction.
MetLife’s portfolio addresses multiple areas of employee protection, while its digital tools help people make decisions and its research keeps the offering connected to changing workforce expectations. Taken together, these capabilities support employees at different stages of the benefits journey. Employees can use digital guidance when choosing coverage and access support when circumstances such as leave or return to work require them to use their benefits.
The recognition of MetLife as Top Group Insurance Benefits Solutions 2026 reflects the strength and breadth of its group benefits offering, as well as its focus on making benefits easier to navigate through digital tools and support. For employers, this means having access to a wide range of coverage and resources designed to meet the needs of today’s diverse workforce. For employees, it can mean a simpler experience—from choosing the right coverage to understanding and using their benefits when they need them most.
